ABOUT THE FABRIC
CASHMERE
Cashmere, often referred to as “soft gold”, is a natural fiber derived from the hair of cashmere goats, scientifically known as Capra hircus laniger. The coat of these goats consists of two layers: an outer layer of coarse, protective hair, and an inner layer — the true treasure — composed of an exceptionally soft, fine and warm down.
This inner layer, known as underdown, develops during winter and is used to produce cashmere. When spring arrives and temperatures rise, the goats naturally shed this fine fiber, allowing it to be collected. The fleece is gathered by hand or through gentle combing, rather than shearing as in traditional wool.
The breeding of cashmere goats is a craft passed down through generations. The techniques used to collect the fiber, care for the animals and manage grazing reflect a deep connection between local communities and their natural environment.
WOOL
Wool is a renewable natural resource and fully biodegradable. One of the most remarkable properties of virgin wool is its ability to regulate temperature by allowing air circulation.
It provides insulation and retains warmth in cold climates, while in milder conditions it allows the body to breathe and remain cool, thanks to its capacity to absorb and release moisture. Wool can absorb a significant amount of moisture — up to 30% of its weight — without feeling damp, helping to keep the body dry and comfortable.
This makes it a highly versatile fiber, suitable for a wide range of garments and climates.
