A coat with two finished faces and no lining to keep it off the body: what keeps you warm is the fibre. Designed and hand-stitched in Spain, one garment at a time and without seasons, in cloth from the old mills of Biella, in Italian Piedmont.
Three animals that live where the cold is real: the Bactrian camel of the Mongolian steppe, the goat of the Asian plateaux, the alpaca of the Andean altiplano. Their winter coat is the coat before it is a coat. Fine, hollow, dry to the hand and light.
It insulates against the cold and lets the spare heat go: thermal by nature. ▸
The Look.
Straight trousers, a white shirt, a pleated skirt. Nothing that asks for attention on its own, and everything meant to go under the coat without arguing with it. Elegance is a matter of proportion and repetition: few pieces, worn often, over many years.

Trunk Shows
The name is an old one: houses travelled with their trunks to wherever the client was, and showed the cloth and the garments away from the shop, with time to spare. Murmells works this way. A ninety-minute talk, in a small group, to see the fibres close up — camel hair, cashmere, alpaca — and to learn the trade of double-face.
